In which countries are Schengen visas applicable?
Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland are all members of the Schengen State.
Where can I apply for a visa for Norway?
Application can be made at our Consulates in Cape Town or Durban or at our Embassy in Pretoria.
I am going to several Schengen countries. At which one do I apply?
You need to apply at the Consulate/Embassy representing the country in which you will stay the longest.
Do I require a multiple entry visa?
You will require a multiple entry visa if you entered the Schengen State first, left the Schengen State and will be re-entering the Schengen State again. If you are joining a vessel (seamen) or if you are going on a boat cruise, you will require a multiple entry visa.
For how long will my visa be valid?
If you are a tourist, your visa will normally be for the period of your trip’s itinerary. If you are going over for business on a regular basis and your documents are in order, a multiple entry visa for 90 days over a one year period could be granted. You can only stay in the Schengen state for 90 days every 12 months.
How many blank pages must be in my passport?
We require at least two blank pages to be available in your passport to enable us to put your visa on one page and the other for the customs stamps.
My passport expires in two months time. Can I get a visa?
No. It is a requirement that the expiration date of your passport is 3 months AFTER your return from the Schengen State.
My friend in Norway is sponsoring my trip. What are the requirements?
Your friend needs to fill in a Guarantee Form at his/her nearest police station in Norway. This form along with a copy of their passport must be sent to you to be included in your application. A copy of this guarantee form will be attached to your passport.
