The Swedish Norwegian AIDS team in Lusaka acts as the implementing agent of the project, which was initiated in 2000. The present project agreement runs until 2010 with a total allocated amount of 180 mill. NOK.
The aim of the programme is to prevent transmission of HIV and to mitigate the impacts of the epidemic.
Activities include indentifying and supporting regional HIV/AIDS programmes where regional cooperation is essential and/or gives added value through cooperation and coordination with regional partners such as the SADC and other international partners in the region. The Team also provides advice and support on AIDS issues to Norwegian and Swedish embassies in Southern Africa.
