Southern Africa Counter-Trafficking Assistance Programme Phase I and II (SACTAP)
Implementing Agency/Partner: International Organisation of Migration (IOM)
Project Period: 2003-2009
Amount: NOK 39 mill (appr. R 47 mill.)
Background: SACTAP has focussed on research, information and awareness raising, capacity building, and victim assistance. The agreed period is now over. Norad commissioned an external evaluation of SACTAP which was done by Nordic Consulting Group (report dated 29 March 2010). Over 11 000 government officials and NGO personnel have received training, and 306 victims of human trafficking have been assisted by IOM since 2003. The Norwegian Government is currently considering possible future financial support to IOM's regional work (SACTAP III), based on the findings of the evaluation.
