Sølvguttene was founded in 1940. They have frequently toured internationally, visiting Scandinavia and other European countries, USA and the former Soviet Union. They owe their name to the shiny silvery uniforms they used to wear in the choirs’ early days but it is now attributed to the special sound and clarity of the boy’s voices.
This was their first trip to South Africa. Drakensberg Boys’ Choir visited Norway for the first time in 2009, and will visit again later this year.
